See Blue? See Green? Think Donate Life!
Philadelphia, PA, – April 16, 2021 — Roxborough Memorial Hospital is encouraging the public to help them celebrate National Donate Life Blue & Green Day. That’s because today is National Donate Life Blue and Green Day– a fun and festive observance to offer hope to the 100,000 people whose lives depend on a life-saving organ transplant. Unfortunately, this week, more than 115 of them will die because not enough organs are available. Thousands of others whose lives would benefit from the gift of eye and tissue donation continue to wait and hope.
You may see these two colors – the official colors of Donate Life – on adults, kids, pets and food throughout the day on Friday.
“We are encouraging everyone to show off their donate life pride to honor organ, eye and tissue donors and celebrate the people who received the gift of life through transplantation and to offer hope to the many who wait for the gift of life,” said Kim Kelly, clinical educator of Roxborough Memorial Hospital.
National Donate Life Blue and Green Day is a unified national effort, in which legislators, newscasters, corporations, hospital employees, schools, and community residents will wear blue and green to show their support of organ and tissue donation.
The colorful day is part of National Donate Life Month – a month-long observance to bring attention to organ, eye, and tissue donation.
As part of this initiative, we have posted information on our internet page to give employees and the community an opportunity to learn more about organ, eye, and tissue donation, and to make sign-up convenient. https://roxboroughmemorial.com/about-us/gift-of-life-program/
