Roxborough Memorial Hospital Nurse Named WOW Legend – Employee of the Year

Philadelphia, PA — (March 30, 2023) – Micah Maxton, RN, Emergency Room nurse, Roxborough Memorial Hospital, was honored with the prestigious WOW Legend – Employee of the Year award, given to the employee who embodies the best of Roxborough Memorial Hospital’s values, at the annual Employee Service Awards luncheon.

Known for his compassion and sense of humor, Micah was praised for his kindness, strong work ethic, and commitment to providing the highest standards of patient care.

“I am touched and honored to have been selected for this award,” said Micah. “I wouldn’t be here without the wonderful people I work with. They are like family to me. I’m proud to be a part of the Roxborough Memorial Hospital family.”

Micah was recognized for two acts of compassion that stood out among the rest. One, for giving a homeless man with moisture-associated rashes on his feet a pair of his own sneakers and hospital socks to wear when discharged. And at the same time, connecting with the owner of the ambulance company and convincing him to complete a transfer of a bariatric patient who had been in the ED for several days awaiting transport home.

He was also honored for saving the life of a five-year-old child who came into the ER suffering from anaphylactic shock from a reaction to milk given to her at school.

With Micah’s kind heart and love for his profession, he reassured the young child that she was safe, and he would not leave her side.

The family stated, “We want to let you know how much we appreciate your compassion, professionalism, and love of care given to our daughter. She was in great distress, and you comforted her during her time of need.”

The young child is aspiring to be physician assistant. The family added, “You have provided her with a first-hand look at the kind of medical professional she wants to be in life.”

Micah saved this young child’s life and has made an impact on her future.

“Micah’s nature inspires excellence in everything he does,” said Karen McCormick, Emergency Room Director, Roxborough Memorial Hospital. “We are grateful to have Micah on our team.”

She added, “Micah embodies the Roxborough nurses’ spirit. He not only takes care of his community outside the hospital and patients in our hospitals, but he also passes along a lifetime of knowledge to teach future nurses. These qualities make Micah truly amazing.”

“We are so incredibly proud of Micah Maxton being recognized by his peers and patients for the 2022 WOW Legend – Employee of the Year award,” said Michael Rogozinski, CNO, Roxborough Memorial Hospital. “Micah is a perfect example of someone who takes great pride in his work and goes above and beyond to care for others. He is a problem-solver who is ready to spring into action when needed. We think all of our employees at Roxborough are exceptional, and Micah is truly amazing.”

Each year at the annual Employee Service Awards event, the hospital celebrates employees with extended service to the hospital, from five years and longer, in five-year increments. A total of 43 employees with 495 years of service were honored at the event. The highlight is the presentation of the WOW Legend – Employee of the Year, established in 2012 when Prime Healthcare purchased Roxborough Memorial Hospital.
