Roxborough Memorial Hospital Kicks Off Nurses Week with Inaugural Rosie Awards

Philadelphia, PA (May 5, 2025) – Roxborough Memorial Hospital proudly launched Nurses Week by honoring exceptional staff with the first-ever Rosie Awards. This prestigious award recognizes a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) or Unit Secretary who has gone above and beyond to provide outstanding care for our patients.

The Rosie Award was established by Ms. El Scurry and Jaime Wolfenden, who designed this initiative to highlight the dedication and compassion shown by PCAs and has since expanded to include Unit Secretaries. “It is our way of saying ‘thank you’ from our team at Roxborough Memorial Hospital for the hard work and dedication you bring every day,” said Ms. Scurry.

This year’s winner of the Rosie Award is Annett Dundas, a dedicated PCA whose unwavering commitment to patient care has made a significant impact. Annett was recognized for her exceptional service, which was highlighted in a heartfelt testimonial from a patient’s family member:

“I am very thankful and grateful during my mother’s stay at Roxborough Memorial Hospital. Everyone was wonderful, but I’d like to tell you about Annett! Her unwavering dedication to patient and family care is remarkable. Her authentic care and support mean a lot to my mother and me, as well as to everyone she came in contact with. Thank you, Annett, for going above and beyond for the sake of your families. Annett leads with a sweet and kind nature. We know that healthcare workers are under attack, and it’s not always easy to perform one’s job with the level of professional and sincere care and concern, but Annett continues to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and care. What a gem your facility has in her.”

The Rosie Awards serve as a reminder of the vital role that PCAs and Unit Secretaries play in the healthcare system, offering compassion and support to patients and their families during challenging times. Roxborough Memorial Hospital is proud to celebrate the hard work and dedication of its staff, especially during Nurses Week.
