Roxborough Memorial Hospital Earns an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group
Fall 2025 Safety Grade is a national recognition for commitment to patient safety
PHILADELPHIA (November 18, 2025) — Roxborough Memorial Hospital is proud to announce that it has received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a well-respected independent nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare quality and safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
Roxborough Memorial Hospital has now been awarded this prestigious “A” grade five times in a row, standing out as one of only seven hospitals to achieve an “A” grade among nineteen hospitals within a 10-mile radius. This consistent recognition showcases its exceptional commitment to safety and quality in patient care and further cements its reputation as a leader in healthcare excellence in Philadelphia.
“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means Roxborough Memorial Hospital made a true commitment to put patient safety first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
Shawn Parekh, CEO of Roxborough Memorial Hospital, expressed pride in the hospital’s performance: “This recognition is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our entire team to prioritize patient safety. We have implemented comprehensive safety protocols, including enhanced medication administration practices, rigorous infection prevention measures, and proactive fall prevention strategies, all aimed at ensuring our patients receive the highest standard of care. Our commitment to safety is an ongoing journey, and we are proud to be recognized for our efforts.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries—issues that lead to more than 500 patient deaths daily in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and accessible to the public, with grades updated biannually in the fall and spring.
