Philadelphia, PA (11/18/2022) –Thanksgiving came a few days early for some Philadelphia-area families this year. On November 18, Roxborough Memorial Hospital’s employees, along with North Light Community Center, came together to donate Thanksgiving baskets to 28 residents in the Philadelphia area. Each basket was complete with all the fixings for a tasty Thanksgiving meal, including mashed potatoes, vegetables, stuffing, gravy, napkins, rolls, pastries, pies, and a bottle of sparkling cider.

“We are proud to collaborate with North Light Community Center to donate Thanksgiving baskets to the community,” said Burt Piper, chief executive officer of Roxborough Memorial Hospital. “Being able to help, especially when many families are feeling a heightened sense of food insecurity around the holidays and with inflation, this year, is going to be even more of a need.”

For most families, the price of groceries has drastically changed how they celebrate the holidays. For those struggling, donating a traditional Thanksgiving meal can help turn their holiday into a joyful one. Over the last couple of years, Roxborough Memorial Hospital has committed to helping families of local neighbors during the holiday season.

Piper added, “I am so grateful to our employees who came together to provide food to our area neighbors. With too many families facing economic hardship, it is more important than ever to support each other and to help those in need.”
