Enriching Your Learning: A Comprehensive Didactic Program
At Roxborough, we are committed to providing a robust and engaging educational experience. Our program offers four hours of weekly protected didactic time, meticulously designed to enhance your learning and clinical skills. Our didactics feature a diverse range of educational activities, including insightful presentations from esteemed guest lecturers, as well as core faculty members who share their expertise.
A highlight of our weekly schedule is our Journal Club, led by a resident or structured as an interactive game, such as Jeopardy! This fosters critical appraisal skills and keeps residents abreast of the latest medical literature. We also integrate a Medical Spanish curriculum to enhance communication with our diverse patient population, alongside a dedicated Osteopathic Recognition curriculum for those pursuing advanced training in osteopathic principles and practice.
Beyond our core didactic schedule, when on inpatient rotations at Roxborough Memorial Hospital, you will participate in daily morning reports and noon lectures led by rotating specialists and internal medicine residents. We also encourage and welcome your attendance at lectures associated with your monthly rotations when you are not in the continuity clinic (for example, noon lectures at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia or St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children).
Each resident is expected to deliver at least one scholarly teaching presentation annually, which may take place at a family medicine department meeting or an osteopathic recognition conference, further developing your presentation and teaching skills.
