How Therapy Dogs Can Help
Engaging with therapy dogs can uplift spirits and offer a delightful distraction from the stresses of hospital life. These lovable companions remind us of the joy that pets bring into our lives. Research indicates that petting a dog can decrease stress-related increases in heart rate and blood pressure, providing a soothing presence during challenging times.
Collaboration with Angel on a Leash
Our Pet Therapy Program is proudly partnered with Angel on a Leash, which conducts pet therapy across several hospitals in the Philadelphia region. Their mission emphasizes the significance of the human-canine bond in enhancing health and quality of life through advocacy, education, research, and service. The handlers, known as “champions,” embody this mission, aligning seamlessly with Roxborough Memorial Hospital’s commitment to delivering exceptional care and fostering a holistic healing environment for our community.
Monthly Rounds with Our Therapy Dog
Our therapy dog program features monthly visits from certified therapy teams, officially launching in May 2025.
While the Pet Therapy Program is designed to provide comfort and peace, it is important to note that it is not intended as a goal-oriented therapeutic intervention integral to clinical healthcare treatment.
We are excited to enrich the lives of our patients and staff through the joy of pet therapy at Roxborough Memorial Hospital!
